## What does this tool do?

Counts the words, characters, sentences, paragraphs and lines of any text, and adds three things a
plain count does not tell you: how long it takes to read, how long it takes to say out loud, and
which words you are repeating the most.

## Reading and speaking time

The times use the usual published averages: **200 words per minute** reading silently and **130
words per minute** speaking. They are averages, not promises — a text full of long technical words
takes longer, and one full of short ones takes less. Treat them as an order of magnitude, which is
what you need when a script has to fit in two minutes.

## The words that dominate

The keyword list leaves out the grammatical filler (articles, prepositions, pronouns) and counts
what is left, with its density as a percentage. A word at 8 % in a 300-word text is telling you
something about the text; the same word at 0.4 % in a 5,000-word one is not.

## Keep in mind

Everything is counted in your browser: the text never leaves your machine, which is why you can
paste a draft, a contract or a client’s email into it without thinking twice.
